Abstract

A key motivation in developing quantum technology has been its identified potential for enhancing sensing capability. We present a methodology for using quantum entanglement to improve several features of Very Long Baseline Interferometry. In particular, we show that sharing a simple bipartite state between two antennas equipped with photon-number-resolving detectors can enable us to beat the shot noise limit in measuring the location of a weak point source, achieving Heisenberg-limited sensing.
