Abstract

We have investigated a specific technique for making (SNR)'!* estimates by using in-phase channel output averages to estimate signal and quadrature channel output averages to estimate noise. We have produced bounds to determine the accuracy of this technique when fluctuations of one standard deviation occur. Our results show the estimate is relatively independent of actual input signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) and can be improved only by increasing the number of samples in the averages.
