Abstract
An article in the previous Progress Report (42-57) introduced an FY-80 study being conducted at JPL to assess the applicability of the 32 GHz K-band frequency region to planetary exploration, and considered in detail the use of the DSN 64-m antenna network at 32 GHz. The emphasis in that reporting was on increased communications link capacity by use of K-band rather than the presently used X-band. In this article, the use of K-band to alleviate the radio metric degradation caused by charged particles is discussed.
