Abstract
The cost of electricity to power equipment in control rooms of Deep Space Stations is about $1/yr/W. This rule can be used to estimate power costs for equipment under development, helping to reduce life-cycle costs and energy consumption by justifying design alternatives that are more costly, but more efficient.
