Abstract
Even though the Costas loop for the Multimegabit Telemetry Demodulator/Detector (MTDD) System was originally designed for support of BPSK signalling, its inherent tracking capability for an unbalanced quadriphase shift-keyed (UOPSK) signal is well known. This paper summarizes analytic results to predict rms phase jitter of the MTDD Costas loop for a UOPSK signal. The Costas loop has a hard-limited in-phase channel.
