Abstract

A theory is given which allows one to obtain the optimum acquisition sweep strateg of a PN code despreader when the a priori probability density function is not uniform. This theory has application to psuedo noise spread spectrum systems which could be utilized in the DSN to combat Radio Frequency Interference (RFI). In a sample case, when the a priori probability density function is Gaussian, the acquisition time is reduced by about 41% compared to a “uniform sweep” approach.
